The NASCAR Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 Class after the voting panel met in Uptown Charlotte on Tuesday. Former Cup Series champion Kurt Busch and 18-time Cup winner Harry Gant of Taylorsville were selected along with modified driver Ray Hendrick. Former Charlotte Motor Speedway general manager Humpy Wheeler was voted the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR.

With a 1-1 draw against Tampa Bay Sun FC on Saturday night, Carolina Ascent FC clinched the 2024/25 USL Super League Players’ Shield, awarded to the team with the most points at the end of the regular season. Carolina will enter the 2024/25 USL Super League Playoffs with the No. 1 overall seed, earning home field advantage for the semifinal match against the No. 4 seed on June 8.

More rain on Tuesday hindered practice rounds for the PGA Championship at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club. Scottie Scheffler is the world’s number one-ranked golfer and said the weather will impact play, at least early in the tournament. -
After a soggy start Monday, officials for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club hope the rest of the week will bring better weather and give players time to practice on the course. No spectators were allowed on the grounds Monday, but Championship Director Jason Soucy said on "Charlotte Talks" that Monday tickets will be honored Tuesday and Wednesday. -
The Charlotte Hornets came away from Monday night’s NBA draft lottery with the fourth overall pick. Duke’s Cooper Flagg is widely expected to be the top overall pick, but Hornets Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson says the team will still get a player who can help.

The Charlotte Checkers downed the Providence Bruins 5-2 on Sunday at Bojangles Coliseum, wrapping up their second round Calder Cup Playoff Series three games to two. The Checkers now move on to the Atlantic Division Finals against the Hershey Bears, the top seed and the two-time defending American Hockey League champions. The best-of-five series starts in Charlotte Friday and Saturday.

The Charlotte Checkers won again Sunday in the American Hockey League Playoffs and now lead Providence two-games-to-none in the best-of-five series. After a 5-1 win Friday night, the Checkers won 2-0. Game three is scheduled for Wednesday night at Bojangles Coliseum in their quest for the Calder Cup.

The Carolina Hurricanes are moving on to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after beating the New Jersey Devils 5-4 in double overtime Tuesday night in Raleigh. The Canes trailed 3-0 before rallying. Sebastian Aho scored the winning goal. The Hurricanes will now face the winner of the series between the Washington Capitals and the Montreal Canadiens. Washington leads the best-of-seven matchup three games to one. -
